Community Paramedic (full time) *Position begins October 26, 2026*

Polk County Fire District No.1 is seeking a highly skilled, dedicated clinician to join our team as a Community Paramedic. This is an incredible opportunity to be part of an innovative mobile integrated healthcare framework that has a lasting, positive impact on the daily lives of those in our community.

This opportunity is part of a two-year OHA Rural Health Transformation Program Grant with the possible extension of three additional years. Candidates should understand that funding beyond the grant period has not yet been identified. Working hours will include some evenings and weekends.

Polk County Fire District No.1 is a combination career and volunteer agency delivering fire suppression, emergency medical response, and advanced life-support transport to over 28,000 residents across 200+ square miles of southeast Polk and western Marion counties. Centered in the vibrant communities of Monmouth and Independence, and extending through the rural areas of Airlie, Buena Vista, Pedee, and Suver, the District operates four stations committed to providing progressive, high-quality, and compassionate service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·         Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED.

·         Current Oregon Paramedic provider licensure.

·         Minimum of three (3) years of clinical EMS experience.

·         Valid Oregon driver’s license with an insurable driving record and at least three years of licensing history.

·         Strong clinical decision-making, attention to detail, and interpersonal communication skills.

·         Successful completion of background check, psychologic assessment, and physical exam.

Desirable Qualifications: Certified Community Paramedic (CP-C) designation; bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish); formal education or background in Public Health, Nursing, or Social Work.

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

·         $6,842 - $8,315 monthly

All candidates who meet the minimum qualifications should plan on attending an assessment center on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. The assessment center will include:

·         Written exam based on Community Paramedic curriculum

·         EMS care scenarios

·         Panel interview
